Obligatory Guilty New Years Post

Well internets, I am happy to report that I’ve made it through the holidays relatively unscathed, and even managed to enjoy the suspension of normal activity. I’m glad things are getting back to normal around here though, because although its lovely to sleep at bizarre hours, eat unhealthy food, and accept gifts from relatives you see once yearly, its nice to have some peace and quiet.

I never get into New Years resolutions, because I know myself, and part of that means knowing my total lack of willpower or motivation on any level. But, in light of recent events (read: christmas cookies) I have decided to make some changes in my daily routine (read: stop being a glutton) and write down some resolutions.

Resolution 1: Implement a normal eating schedule like normal people, instead of stumbling around the kitchen and sluttishly putting anything I fancy into my mouth. Consume less chocolate-coated items, and focus more on vegetables and fruit as a viable snacking option. Motivation: Looking in the mirror.

Resolution 2: Smoke less, with the eventual goal of removing myself entirely from nicotine’s death grip. Plan on not running out at 3am to purchase cigarettes from crabby man at Walgreens who lectures me on the cost of cigarettes, as if I’m not already buying them and don’t know. Motivation: Lung cancer.

Resolution 3: Get a fucking job. Finish emailing list of resumes, and apply anywhere regardless of position or payrate, because something is better than nothing. Motivation: Being able to pay half the rent, as well as afford my reason for living.

Resolution 4: Fix my car. My poor car has been rotting in my driveway for almost an entire YEAR, with me lacking the funds to fix it. It’s a great car, so the whole situation is quite unfortunate. Motivation: Not having to drive my dad’s pickup truck anymore. It has a cowboy hat rear-view-mirror ornament. Enough said.

Shouldn’t take long, right? pfft. I hope everyone has a fun, safe and happy new year.
