Decisions
I think it’s time for a change. I’m spending the majority of my time focusing on my career, and while I love writing this blog, I’m kind of over it. I’m not taking it down or going on some bullshit hiatus, I’m really just thinking out loud. Okay, I’m also at the office, calls are slow, and I have no coffee.
I’m currently working on putting my photography portfolio together, and part of that will include a neat blog with client photos. This will serve several purposes. For one, I still get the satisfaction of writing a blog and telling people what’s going on in my life, and secondly my clients also get sneak peaks at how their projects are coming along, post-processing wise. I’ll also be able to post about available booking dates, and other miscellany that doesn’t need to be on my actual portfolio. I’ll keep blogging, but it’ll be less frequent, less time-consuming, and a less intimidating prospect.
I put off blogging for two reasons: either I have nothing relevant or interesting to say, or I have too many relevant or interesting things to say and not enough time or motivation to bust out a witty entry. I’m sure at one point I’ll return to personal blogging, but in the near future it’ll just be my photoblog. Plus, I don’t really want to feel obligated to update my internetblogsite out of some weird sense of duty to the people who read it. I want to write when I have things to say. I always have things to say, but the time necessary to develop these thoughts into something more than mush just isn’t as abundant now.
I’m in the process of writing some scripts to handle my sexy new gallery, as well as designing the photoblog and thinking about all of the things I’d like to do, and all of the features I’d like to incorporate. I’m super excited about it, and when it’s finished, I’ll write a post linking to it.
Another reason I’ve made this decision is because I think I’ve almost grown out of my community, so to speak. I’ve made some great friends doing what I do here, but I only make time for a special few to actually read/comment on their blogs. And it’s not that my traffic has dwindled, quite the opposite in fact. My stats are higher than they’ve ever been, which I don’t quite understand since I don’t have a ton of great shit to offer, and again rarely ever comment on other people’s blogs. But my SEO skills are improving, and I’m picking up tips and tricks wherever I can, so this may account for the influx of visitors in recent months.
Either way, I’m going to take a break for a while. I may or may not return, who knows. I will still be updating my future photoblog, so I’ll post an update to let you guys know when everything is set up.
