Slow Day at the Office
So, my internet at home is out, and will hopefully be fixed by the time I get home today because I’ve finally gotten over my little creative block, and have a shiny new layout in the works. Luckily, my job is amazing enough that I can sit here, blog, listen to music in the office that I put onto my flash drive, and drink my coffee while calls are slow. I thought I might as well update and do something productive.
It’s amazing how quickly things can begin to look up, especially when you least expect it. It’s a beautiful sunny day out today, I’m off at 3, and I have the rest of today off to relax and plan out a couple of model shoots, and finish some freelance projects that are approaching deadline. Yesterday was gorgeous too, and I took dozens of photos that are waiting to be processed and uploaded as well.
I’m glad I have this little break, because the coming weeks are going to be pretty intense. I have a showcase event that I’m shooting at the end of the month, which falls on Black Friday. For those of you who don’t live in the U.S., Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving where everything is on sale and things are marked down really low for the Christmas rush. We aren’t allowed to miss work at Walgreens on Black Friday, so my boss told me she’d do what she could to let me off the hook considering I’ll already be in Cincinnati by then. And honestly? Black Friday is a totaly nightmare, so I’m glad I won’t be there for that little hellfest. It’s not like Walgreens doesn’t have 6 other employees who know how to run photo anyway.
Walgreens is an okay job, but hopefully I’ll be able to either go fulltime here at the office on top of shooting for them, or remain part time here and find a higher paying second job. I’m applying at a local grocery chain who pays their cashiers over double what I make an hour at Walgreens, so hopefully that works out because I’d be making crazy money.
I’m also working on a concept for a new theme over at NMB, and I have some really great ideas and I can’t wait to incorporate them. It’s going to be a pretty hectic week so hopefully I can get everything done.
