Themey Goodness

filed under: Site Updates |

I’ve just finished making the (probably not) final adjustments on the new theme for the summer. One of the main things I wanted with this new theme is the ability to post larger photos, which has been achieved. I went wide, which also gave me the chance to make the sidebar a little nicer and more visually appealing. I’m still a little worried that I’ve put too much crap all over the place, so by all means, leave your comments and criticisms, they will all be considered. I’m contemplating doing three small illustrations for the links above, as the images kind of clash with the layout. Who knows.

And I know, I know. I tried a zillion other color combinations, but blue is just my color. I can’t ever seem to leave it behind.

I feel really behind in all of the things I’d like to do here, as well as how I want to present myself and my work online. I’ve been throwing around ideas on how to restructure this website to mainly include my photography, but that’s just still in the works. I’ll see how this theme pans out, and if I’m sick of it within a week then I guess we’ll see. It’d be great to have a website dedicated solely to my photography, including a schnazzy portfolio and a place for people to login and buy custom actions sometime in the future. This will do for now, I’m exhausted and my neck is killing me. I haven’t been up to much outside of shooting and looking for opportunities to shoot. Photography is really all I think about, I am so in love with it. The entire process from making adjustments and focusing, to clicking that shutter and post-processing.

I’m really happy so far with being hosted by Holdfire, the speed increases are amazing in comparison to Bluehost. One of the major problems I find with hosting companies these days is that they oversell themselves. Bluehost offers “Unlimited hosting space, unlimited bandwidth and free domain forever!” with each of their packages. That’s fucking ridiculous. A.) its misleading because NO server has unlimited space, and B.) their other clients who don’t take up much space suffer for it. I don’t know what kind of data storage they’re working with, but that’s a lot of goddamn servers. Whatever, when my year of free-ness at Holdfire is up, I’ll most likely renew with them and move all of my projects there.

I await your opinions on the new theme, let me know what you think!
