This meme was stolen from the wife over at Chiklita.net. That’s right folks, I’ve resorted to memes. These are some of the most memorable characters from my favorite movies.
Juno | Juno
I connected immediately with Juno’s character. Everything from the way she carried herself to the way she verbalized things, and her quick wit. I loved the soundtrack, and this was definitely one of the best films I’ve ever seen.
Edit: I don’t give a fuck how bad you hated it.
Anna | Closer
Closer might be my all time favorite movie. I related to all of the characters, but Anna in particular sticks out for me. She’s a photographer, she’s indecisive, and she tends to settle. If that’s not me in a nutshell, I’m not sure what is.
Elektra Natchios | Elektra
Okay man, don’t make fun of me. I love this movie, and I totally relate to several aspects of Elektra’s character. Everything from the OCD, to her sense of solitude throughout the film reminds me of myself. I just wish I could kick ass like she does.
Raimunda | Volver
I am obsessed with Spanish culture. I love the language, the people, the ideas and metaphors and everything else that goes along with it. Raimunda is memorable to me because she embodies everything that a Spanish woman is; resourceful, strong and feisty, yet kind when she needs to be with firm roots in tradition.
Sam | Garden State
I loved Natalie Portman’s character in this movie. She wasn’t perfect, suffered from epilepsy, and was a compulsive liar but still managed to have a strong sense of who she was, and stayed positive.
One thing all of these characters have in common is their ability to keep going and stay positive, regardless of setbacks, misfortune, tragedy and grief. Even though all of these films are entirely fictional, they all contain truths about humanity and why we do what we do. There’s an innate beauty in imperfection and it draws us to certain characters, because it lets us know that even in fiction, we aren’t alone.
