Art and Design Links
I figured I should finally get off my ass and create a new theme, considering I’ve been saying it for like 3 weeks now. I added a lot of things that weren’t included before, and it looks much nicer than that horrid grey thing I had up previously. I tried for about week straight trying to come up with a good cutesy subject to illustrate, but I just couldn’t get anything to flow right. I also purchased a Nikon D60, so taking photos and acclimating myself to a new camera system took up a good chunk of my time.
On the positive side, and as a result of my blatant procrastination towards designing anything for this site throughout the week, I’ve been surfing a lot of websites in search of some inspiration. Below are some of my favorite creative people who specialize in different things, and you should definitely pay them a visit. Because I said so.
- Suziblu: Suzi is one of the most talented and inspiring people I know. She has the ability to use unconventional methods to create works of art that really get to you. I love watching her Youtube videos, and I relate to her a lot both as a person and as an artist.
- MsBelle Jewelry: You will never meet anyone as nice and generous as Ginger. It’s really rare to find a nice person these days, and she makes some of the most beautiful jewelry I have ever seen. She’s incredibly talented, so go visit her and buy things from her shop! Also, tell her she’s awesome. She deserves it.
- Leigh Taylor Photography: I don’t know Leigh personally, but her photos are absolutely stunning and she has some of the nicest black and whites I’ve seen in a long time. Definitely worth a visit.
- Kriss Cross Designs: She has some of the nicest jewelry I have ever seen, and she’s very original with what she makes. I obviously don’t wear women’s jewelry, but if I did I imagine I’d own a lot of her pieces.
- Tascha: I don’t know where to begin with Tascha, she’s extremely talented and her paintings always amaze me. I’m a huge fan of primitive folk art from all around the world, so I especially love her Fridas :)
- Julian Lievano: I absolutely love the look of blown glass, and the items in this shop are awesome. I took a short class over a weekend for glass blowing and made a few beads, and I can say from experience that it’s a lot of hard work. Julian has some of the coolest borosillicate glass I’ve ever seen.
I have a ton more sitting in my bookmarks, but I’ll leave that for a second installment. Now go visit them!
