Oh Canadaaa
Thanks to all of you who commented yesterday regarding the new theme, your suggestions are much appreciated.
If you’re a smoker, chances are you’ve gone to bed just after smoking your last cigarette before. You know, when you’re like “fuck it, I’ll buy some tomorrow, I’m too tired right now.” and instead of running to the store 5 minutes away, you waft into dreamland.
When you do wake up, however, panicking and feeling as though you’ve left your infant/puppy/kitten in a hot car with the windows rolled up in the heat of August, you immediately regret your decision to go to bed instead of purchasing backup smokes the night before. This, ladies and gentlemen, is how my morning began. And I use the term “morning” loosely, because I woke up at 3:30am. Night time is pretty useless to me for more than one reason. a.) I cannot physically sleep for more than 4 or 5 hours at a time. My body just won’t allow it, and b.) There is no sunlight to photograph things with at night. Pretty fucking useless if you ask me.
I suppose it could be considered a good thing that I can’t sleep in anymore. This means I am very rarely late to anything, and it gives me time in the mornings to do things like check my email, browse the internets, catch up on my RSS feeds, eat breakfast and the like. This morning was spent packing for a family mini-trip to Niagara Falls today through Saturday evening. Another thing I’ve noticed is that when you’re a kid, a mini-vacation, or anything that deviates from the normal routine of life is a magical adventure, filled with unknowns and cheap souvenir shops.
Not that I wouldn’t snap at any opportunity to get out of Ohio now, but packing and preparing for a trip as an adult is just a pain in the ass. There is always that nagging feeling that you’re forgetting something detrimental to the trip, but fortunately I think I have everything I’m going to need. With my Louis Vuitton packed, my camera battery charged and ready, my phone charged and all of my other bullshit collected. I’m really just going to get out of the house, and to photograph something other than Jack or Lavender for once. Now all I need to do is stop at the bookstore later on today for reading material for the trip. Because four hours in a car with my family? Sedation is preferable, but I’d also like to have a few backup items just in case the narcotics wear off. I mean in case I wake up.
So, my sweet, sweet internets, I bid you ado. I’ll return in roughly two days time, with lots of photos and maybe even a story or two.
